Oh Very Young

*Facts*

Enjoyed on: March 27, 2021

Grapes: 100% Chardonnay

Dosage: 6 grams/L

*Wild conjecture*

Color: Sweet Memory. A misty happy yellow.

Nose: Sharp. Apple and even onion hit the nose, fresh and juicy. Orange blossom. We got oaky notes as well.

Taste: What struck us here is that all the sensations come and go in a flash. It doesn’t linger on the palate, just blazes by and disappears. Uncomplicated and bold. This bottle was disgorged June 2020 and thus we're drinking it very young (reminds me of the Cat Stevens song).

This is crisp, fresh, and light. Tangy-tart throughout the sip and especially on the aftertaste. We found it well balanced between bitterness and sourness, with a proportional sweetness balancing the other flavors. The closest you come to it fruitwise is orange. The sweet and tangy notes reminded us strongly of an orange-glazed scone, or perhaps cream cheese frosting. Or fresh-squeezed orange juice is also apt, because it has a frothy, mousse-like quality to it. A tinge of bitter grapefruit and dark chocolate on the finish. It left us feeling satisfied and with a trace of salinity on our lips.
