Louis Dumont Brut Rose
Winter Strawberries
Enjoyed on February 11, 2021
Color: Sepia Pink. The bead is beautiful, fine and slow. Looks like dusk in a glass.
The scent was predominantly creamy and a little cakey, pastry-like. Light hints of toast.
In the middle of winter, it's pleasant to be greeted by strawberries and cream. There's a sweetness that is not overly strong, in the way strawberries are. The resemblance was so strong I imagined the crunch of berry seeds between my teeth. Classic buttery notes and cream come across the finish. A hint of spice.
We found it surprising that it was 100% pinot noir. Its freshness and liveliness convinced us it was a blend. To us, it was a unique pinot that showed lots of character.
Dosage = 10 grams. It didn't taste that sweet to us. More so, it reminded us of Laurent Perrier rose, which is also a 100% pinot.
At around $30, this is definitely on the more affordable side of champagne. Regardless of cost, this is a good-tasting champagne and a great value.
