This is an incredibly inexpensive champagne to draw such high reviews. We got it for less than $30, albeit from the store in Albany with amazing deals (which you can read about here).
Color: Straw at Sunrise. Yellow that's pale but vibrant.
Nose: Fresh cut grass. It takes a second to get anything on the nose, but fresh airy notes do come through.
Taste: Butterscotch and almond. Hints of chocolate. Yet, this is also quite tart, with a zing of Granny Smith. Most of our conversation around this was “Less than $30! What?!” We agree this is the best sub-$30 champagne we’ve had in our lives. In fact, we brought a bottle to dinner at E's mom's house. A bottle that's enjoyable, but not uncomfortably pricey.
The experience is very well balanced. It’s like biting into a tart green apple and while the juice is still running down your chin, you get soothed by the sweeter honeyed notes. There’s a bit of yeasty pastry to balance the sip. The tart, sweet, and soft join together into a unified whole. Consider us impressed.
